From: Rachelle MIller [pcm@teleport.com] Sent: Friday, August 24, 2001 5:30 PM Subject: Prayer and Support needed Dear Family and Friends, We wanted to share with you our latest challenge and ask for your prayers and support through a difficult time. Peter has been doctoring for the last 6 weeks or so and has just been diagnosed with bladder cancer. He had a biopsy last week which showed that it is an aggressive cancer, and his treatment will also be aggressive. He will be scheduled for surgery within the next month, but a CT scan next Thursday will give us a better idea how extensive the treatment will be and whether chemotherapy will be required before surgery. His surgery will be very major, and he will spend at least a week in the hospital and up to 5 more weeks at home recovering. The pathology report after surgery will tell us whether he will need ongoing chemo. We have told the children, and we are all holding up fairly well most of the time. Tears flow a little easier than before, and I think we have all come to a deeper understanding as to how precious life and health are. We are reading quite a bit about the cancer and treatment options, but other than that, life goes on much the same as usual. Peter is feeling quite well although he is still recovering from his biopsy. He has been at work throughout this time, and is planning on working up until his surgery. For those of you who pray, we are asking for the Lord to provide comfort, strength and courage for the family and especially for Peter. We are asking for a clean pathology report, for skilled hands and keen understanding for the doctor, and for a safe surgery. We are especially asking for healing from this cancer, whether miraculously or through the art of medicine. And we are praying for Peter to come to a saving knowledge of his Lord, Jesus Christ. Thank you in advance for your support and understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We'll be sure to keep you updated on the latest word from the doctors as we get them. God bless you all, Peter and Rachelle
