Subject: Holiday Update on Peter
Happy holidays, dear friends!
I hope this holiday season finds you well. We are all
doing fine. Amber and Calvin put the tree up
Thanksgiving weekend. Calvin had fussed the last two
years because we were not using our traditional
ornaments and didn't have a lighted star on top of the
tree. He started complaining early this year...about
Labor Day! But, once he started helping decorate, he
seemed to forget we weren't using the "right"
ornaments and didn't have a "good" topper. In fact I
see him adjusting ornaments occasionally even now.
What a funny guy!
Reba got the Christmas lights up by herself this year,
a big job in the wind and rain which has taken up
residence in the Northwest this winter.
We received an early Christmas present this year.
Peter had his CT scan last week and the results were
"unremarkable." Translation: the radiologist saw no
overt signs of his cancer! Praise God!!!! His liver
spots were unchanged, a sign that they are in all
likelihood not tumors. His lymph nodes were normal,
and his bladder showed no masses. As a result, the
oncologist released him from chemo treatments 6 weeks
early. He said that he had to weigh the risks of
treatment against the benefits and, since the CT scan
was so good, there was no real reason to continue with
the chemo. So, we are now waiting to hear from the
surgeon as to when he would like to schedule surgery,
and praising the Lord that Peter will be feeling
stronger for Christmas than we had anticipated. His
white count has begun to bounce back, and his red
blood count is a little higher, too, probably due to
his Procrit shots. In fact, he even went out shopping
by himself today, a sure sign he is perking up a bit.
Please join us in thanking God for a great report.
Ask Him to keep His hand of protection on Peter and to
continue giving the doctors wisdom. I pray for a
happy and healthy holiday season for all of you. May
God bless you richly this next year.
Blessings,
Rachelle
