Subject: Update on Peter
Well friends, pray. Pray hard. You know what to ask for because,
really, it hasn't changed since we started this journey. But,
believe
me, we need encouragement now. The results of Peter's bone scan
were
NOT what we had hoped for. We do know why his back as been so
bothersome. The cancer has invaded his hips and spine. He started
one
of his medications today and will begin shots of Lupron on Monday.
He
will get one every 4 months. It is supposed to shut down the
hormones
that are feeding the cancer. They will measure the progress by
watching
his PSA. Normal is less than 4. His PSA last week was 780! So,
you
see, he has a "little" room for improvement. He is also
taking "dry"
vitamin E and selenium on the advice of his doctor, and the doc
is
looking into another treatment which has worked a miracle for
another of
his patients. Peter isn't ready for that yet nor is the doctor
ready to
recommend it, but he is researching it. We realize that the goal
is not
curing the cancer but slowing it down or, by God's grace, putting
it
into remission. Please keep sending us those good thoughts and
keep
us bathed in prayer. This battle certainly belongs to the Lord.
Many hugs,
Peter and Rachelle
