Peter C. Miller
Peter Clarence Miller of Beaverton, OR was born March 27th, 1949 in Decatur, IN to Oscar and Aileen Rolape Miller. He attended St. Joseph School, was a 1967 graduate of Decatur Catholic High School, and graduated from Purdue University in 1975 with a BS in Interdisciplinary Engineering.
In 1980 in W. Lafayette, IN, Peter married Rachelle Dyb of Lynxville, WI. The Millers moved to Oregon in 1985 where Peter worked for Credence Systems as a software engineer. He enjoyed model railroading and vegetable gardening and was an assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 841, Sunset Trail, Cascade Pacific Council of the Boy Scouts of America. In January 2002 Peter accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was baptized in obedience to the Lord on September 22, 2002 at the Alliance Bible Church, CMA, Hillsboro, OR.
After a yearlong battle with prostate cancer, Peter died peacefully on October 7th, 2002 at St. Vincent Hospital, Portland, OR at the age 53. He is survived by his wife, Rachelle, and his children: Reba of Ravenna, OH, Amber and Calvin at home, mother and stepfather Aileen and Herman Franz, Decatur, five brothers; Paul (Wendy), Michael (Shari), and Robert of Decatur, Steven (Barbara) of Hoagland , and Phillip (Jane) of Ravenna, OH; and by his three sisters; Marie (Dan) Gorrell of Flora, IL, Linda Miller of Indianapolis, and Roseanne (Larry) Sundheimer of Elkhart. His father, Oscar Miller and a brother, Daniel Miller, preceded Peter in death.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm Saturday, October 19, 2002 at the Decatur Church of God, 1129 Mercer Ave, Decatur.
Remembrances may be given in Peters name to the Boy Scouts of America, the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of your choice.
